Hey guys!
Just wanted to shoot you some info about camping at the event and a few other things this year.
Your driver ticket for Cruisers on the Rockies 3 gets you into primitive camping at HQ from Monday afternoon straight through Friday morning. We've got several acres of nice grassy fields around the Lodge for everyone to set up. It's such an awesome spot — right at the base of Kendal Mountain and sitting next to the Animas River. Super chill location!
When you roll in, our volunteers will be there at check-in to help you find a good spot and keep the parking nice and organized, no matter if you're tent camping, have an RTT, towing a trailer, or just sleeping in your cruiser. Plenty of space for everyone, and we wanna make sure it all flows smoothly!
Quick note: no fire rings, tables, or hookups out there. If there's no fire ban, feel free to have a campfire as long as you bring your own fire pit (Solo Stove, pop-up, whatever). If there's a ban, we might still be able to do gas pits depending on the rules — I'll keep you posted closer to the event. You can grab firewood and propane easy in town at the grocery or hardware store.
Drinking water is available from spigots at the lodge. We'll have porta-potties in the camping area, and the lodge bathrooms will be open during the day. Silverton has public restrooms too. No showers at camp, but there are a few pay showers in town and token showers at Molas Lake Campground a couple miles down the road on 550.
Silverton is literally a 5-minute walk from camp and has pretty much everything — restaurants, little grocery store, coin laundry, hardware store, you name it. We really encourage you to wander into town and support the locals when you need stuff. Tuesday night is "on your own" for dinner, so it's the perfect excuse to hit up a restaurant or grab something from the store to cook at camp. Silverton is a small town that lives for summer visitors and they always get stoked when groups like ours show up — they're seriously some of the friendliest folks around!
Check-in and camping kicks off at 3 p.m. on Monday at the lodge. I'll be there with the Crockies Trail Leaders and our awesome volunteers, ready to answer any questions you've got.
This is just the basics — if you have any questions, jump into the Cruisers on the Rocks Facebook Group and ask away. We love the chatter in there!
Next up I'll be sending the scoop on the Dissent Off-Road Cornhole Tournament. We'll also have more emails coming soon with details on all the daily and nightly activities.
Man, time is flying by... I can’t wait to see all of you in Silverton!
Lee
PS. Signups for the overnight tun are currently open at cruisersontherocks.com. Only a few spots are left so don't miss out!
